Sleep to Succeed
A good night’s sleep can reset everything in our life! Then why do we choose to carry our problems with same old mindset the next day morning while we can get rid of them in our previous night’s sleep?
I am going to share a powerful bedtime routine in this article which will help you wake up as a new person every morning with more energy, clarity, and control.
Do you realize, we spend almost 1/3rd of our life in sleep? (i.e., If you live for 75 years, that’s 25 years asleep). Our subconscious mind takes the driver seat 1/3rd of our life. Our quality of sleep greatly alters our mental stability and ability to take a decision. During Sleep, our brain makes creative connections, consolidate memories, process complex thoughts and do countless more housekeeping tasks.
“Your Subconscious mind works continuously, while you are awake, and while you sleep.” – Napoleon Hill
According to a Research conducted by National Science Foundation, we encounter as many as 50,000 thoughts in a day.
After a long workday, we don’t take sufficient time to slow down our thoughts before going to bed at night. We need a system that can slow down our thoughts, untangle our brain before bedtime. If we don’t practice a healthy bedtime routine, we wake up the next day morning with the same old mindset and with the same old baggage of issues you had the previous night.
The Great Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan credited his acumen to his spiritual experience while asleep. Here is a remarkable quote from Ramanujan on the Wikipedia: “While asleep, I had an unusual experience. There was a red screen formed by flowing blood, as it were. I was observing it. Suddenly a hand began to write on a screen. I became all attention. That hand wrote a number of elliptical integrals. They stuck to my mind. As soon as I woke up, I committed them to writing.”
The secret to achieving a transformational sleep is to completely untangle our brain using a powerful technique called “Brain Dump Journaling”.
Your Success bedtime Routine – 30 Minutes before Sleep
In the process of “Brain Dump Journaling”, we spend few minutes before sleep to write down all nagging thoughts, open loops and everything in our thought basket into a piece of paper or a journal. This way you completely free-up your brain before hitting your bed from noisy thoughts and open loops (un-sorted issues). Since our brain is uncluttered, we gracefully drift off into deep sleep allowing our brain to subconsciously focus on creating a mental balance and clarity, thus helping us face our next day with more energy and control.
“Never go to sleep without a request to your subconscious.” – Thomas Edison
Your brain dump doesn’t have to be just TODOs or pending actions. You can jot down every single thought which is currently lingering in your mind. You can express them in multiple creative ways including TODOs, drawing, mind maps or sometimes even a poem.
Brain Dump Journaling followed by Meditation is the most creative and infectious combination you can try before hitting your bed. You will start to notice a significant improvement in the quality of medication if you practice meditation post a brain dump session. Practicing Meditation post brain dump session further slows down our thoughts to much more subconscious levels aiding in superior sleep hours.
It’s a great habit to practice “brain dump journaling” every night before hitting your bed. Try the awesome habit and post your comments if you feel this article was helpful to you.
Here is my typical bedtime routine,
